i love trains.

this is the second session i've had w/ Malcolm. one more session for the detail-stuff should do it. it reminds me that i need a train tattoo myself - although, i'm sure mine will be more subway related... have i mentioned i love the subway? i do. my shower curtain is a subway map. the transit museum's online store is evil and amazing.

Good To Be Back.

i'm home from my vacation. it was a long few days of doing - uh - nothing.* i am happy to be back in NYC and am lining up appointments already!! email, call, smoke signal me into blocking off some tattoo time for you!

just not the 7th, 8th or 9th since i'll be a guest at a wedding. any other time is fine.

below are a few pictures of a cover-up i did before i left. once again: you can love your significant other without getting their name tattooed on you. just sayin'.

*by nothing i mean swimming, sunning, laughing, dining, and shopping w/ the Threepio to my Artoo.

florida has been... hot.

i will be back at the shop on sunday.

i have an ass-ton of messages to reply to (both voicemail and email) so please bear w/ me until i get to yours.

thanks again!

VACATION:

i'll be going on vacation bright and early tomorrow morning!

i'll be back at Twelve 28 next sunday, august 26th.
the best way to reach me the next few days will be via email: the.milkmaid@gmail.com.

see you soon!

Out-Of-Towner:

Ron & his wife came to NYC for a vacation. He stopped in to see little ole me all the way from Montana! we worked up a piece for his son, Kai. this was a lot of fun to do and the feet are so tiny! it didn't hurt that we watched Clerks while doing the tattoo! thanks again, Ron!

Suspension & Camping:

i spent the weekend w/ my family in Massachusetts performing suspensions and eating s'mores at the annual ROP BBQ. it was a grand ole time. after that, i swung over to Rhode Island for a surprise birthday party. the picture below is from that trip and i am determined to share it w/ the entire world simply becuz it is amazing. (his name is Jonah and he is SIX.)

however (!) i am back in the shop this week and (once again) my appointments are filling up quickly. i'm pretty happy to stay late/come in early to accommodate people if i can, so don't be afraid to ask.

monday morning (8.20) i will be going on a "for-real" vacation. i'll have my fancy new appendage (a.k.a. blackberry pearl - the red one) so i'll still be checking my emails, etc. i don't know how much time i'll have to sit down and set up appointments, so please be patient, my dears. feel free to send whatever questions and reference pictures you may have becuz we all know that it is difficult for me to not work. if i don't answer right away i'm probably swimming w/ the dolphins.

while we're on the topic of days i won't be around, don't plan on coming to see me September 7th, 8th, or 9th. i'll be gussied up for a wedding... no, not mine - so lay off.

An Update of the Large Variety:

Francesca came in for her "Ramona Quimby: Age 8" tribute. We decided that we have all felt the way Ramona looks right here at one point or another.
This military-esque comic hottie was a blast to tattoo on Jonathan, even if we did have some minor techinical difficulties... namely a spring on my machine decided it was time to split in two mid-outline! luckily it didn't take more than 20 minutes to fix up and Jonathan was entertained w/ the Empire Strikes Back whilst i allen keyed away!
this is the start of Malcolm's sweet train forearm piece. can't wait for our next session.

oh Onion-Ankle-Allie. such a fun tattoo... what food shall we do next?

Just a Reminder:

hey kiddies,

don't forget, i will be away this weekend but will return wednesday, the 15th! i'll still be reachable while i'm away so call or email if you want to discuss appointments for when i get back. right now, i have most of next week available, except for saturday (the 18th) afternoon. make sure you leave me a detailed message if i don't pick up. i'll be out-of-town again the 20th-25th, so keep that in mind, as well.

thanks and see you soon!

~joy

August is turning out to be busy:

My schedule for this weekend filled up almost faster than i could keep up! since i'll be going away a couple times this month, it's best to contact me ASAP if you'd like to get inked before september. i am as flexible as possible, so give me a call or drop me an email!
thanks.

Mimi came in for a needle and thread today. she's a returning client who let me tattoo the hip/abdomen flower piece (also a cover-up) included above, as well. always good to see her. she works over at Babeland, in case you need a reputable "toy store" to hit up.

Stephanie had the tattoo on the left done a while ago. when she decided it didn't go too well w/ the egyptian eye tattoo she's got on her other wrist, she came to me for a little help. we put together this pretty little lotus that goes more w/ the egyptian theme than the smiling, top hat wearing, devil did.

here's another Stephanie. not only that, but another Stephanie getting a cover-up and both in the same week! this butterfly was a bit too "spiky" and colorless for this client. we spruced it up and added some more feminine curves. happy Stephanies everywhere!
