Caturday!

Kirsten and her husband, Will, came all the way from Pennsylvania today to get her kitty tattoo. she was a super trooper and managed to sit through seven and a half hours of me and my blending! i snapped a few pictures about 2 hours into it of just the black linework and blood-lining. i like to be able to show you guys what it looks like during the procedure, because i think people get nervous when they see all kinds of weird lines on their stencils.
here's a multi-angle view of the finished Ode to Luna Moth and Penelope.

aaaand a couple of details for good measure.

i also thought this would be a good piece to show how a custom piece gets put together. i won't bore you with the lengthy emails where Kirsten and i tried to explain what we were thinking to each other, or the other incarnations of this tattoo, but above are the photographs that were composited and the colored pencil version of what i drew up to give Kirsten an idea of how the final piece would look. small changes were made just before we started today. we thinned out the chin on the cat that's lying down, took off the tags on the collars, and adjusted the colors of their fur.

i am super duper happy w/ finally getting to do this piece. we had some quality movie and story-time today and Kirsten even brought us chocolate cupcakes!

bring me more kitties!!!! meow!

I've Been Taken Advantage Of!

well, my dears, it's nearly the end of the month, which means the Back To School Special is about to expire, and i did two really cool text tattoos today! *finally*

Bella came in a few months ago and got her feet tattooed. she had such a good time that she came in today to get her chest done and took advantage of the $30.00 off special. we hung out and watched The Goonies... she even let us keep the movie for the shop's collection. Thanks, Bella! (see you soon.)

above is Jennifer's side piece that we did this evening in about an hour and a half. i've included full pictures and a couple of details. you can see how the text moves w/ her and really accentuates her curves. very sexy, yes? there are also a couple of detailed pictures of the text. i'll be revisiting this piece when it is healed so i can get some pictures without so much swelling.

since i'm booked tomorrow and i'm tattooing my mommy on sunday, there's simply no more room at the inn for discounted text tattoos right now.

don't despair!
what's going on next month? Halloween!
who adores pumpkins? i do!
keep an eye out for fun tattoo discounts for the month of October. last year, Ariela got her Nightmare Before Christmas tattoo for half-price!

Tattoo Artists Get Tattooed, Too!

on wednesday i finally got the backs of my thighs finished. matt adams, at sacred tattoo in chinatown, nyc did a bang-up job of my cherry blossom clusters. i'll take a few pictures of the actual tattoos once i'm not so swollen! for now, enjoy a "during" shot. if any of you are looking for some solid japanese work, go check out matt.

CNN.

one of my clients, Casey, recently contacted me about an I-Report on CNN to which she submitted some information regarding a tattoo i did for her. the piece is of her dog, Poi, and what do you know? it made it on CNN.

go check it out here.

Stuff I Haven't Posted Yet Due to Lack of Camera:

sara's new text tattoo c/o my fancy Back to School Special. pretty damned sexy, huh? visible below are the cameras we did a few weeks ago peeking out.

here's what we've got so far on chase's alice in wonderland sleeve, (re-work of alice). i can't wait til this is finished; its going to rule!

above are bess's fishie and mouse. both of them are so freakin' cute and all found on one cute little bess. aww.

here's a couple of shots of kim's new tattoo. she swung into town to visit her sister, jessa, and simply couldn't leave w/o adding to her "portfolio". she also got the rose ribpiece last year.

Rock-a-Bye, Baby:

noelle stopped in for her first tattoo, today. she got this awesome woodcutting inspired tree. i really love the way it looks. she sat like a champ!

heather started her tree backpiece today and made it through three hours. just to do a little pimping, heather is a massage therapist and is awesome! if you'd like to get in touch w/ her, let me know.

thank you, ladies!

no pictures... yet.

sorry about the lack in pictures, kiddies, but it will be rectified soon!

i have been really busy and continue to be busy. i've been squeezing appointments in here and there when i can, but if you have a custom piece that needs to be drawn up, please expect to wait about two weeks before i have a workable drawing ready for inspection. if the tattoo you're looking to get is something you have already drawn up or something with minor adjustments i can probably get you in much sooner. i have some time free tuesday night after about 5pm and thursday before 7pm. otherwise, it looks like next week my availability gets better. don't forget to take advantage of my Back to School Special!! $30.00 off all text tattoos!! c'mon!

i will be taking wednesday, the 26th off. why? because i will be getting tattooed by Matt Adams. we're going to be finishing up my cherry blossoms on the backs of my thighs. i'm really excited to get it done, but i'm not exactly looking forward to sitting for the week after.

hope to see you all soon!

I'll be in tomorrow:

i usually try to take a sunday or monday off to get things done when i don't have appointments. this week was a little different. i had appointments both sunday and monday becuz that's when was best for my clients.

since i've been in the shop for the last week w/o time to do "chores" i originally was not going to be in tomorrow (flip flopping monday and tuesday) so i could run some errands, do laundry, join a gym, etc... BUT - as fate would have it - i will be in at noon tomorrow and will be leaving early to do said chores.

so, if you'd like to see me about a tattoo idea or would like to make a deposit and schedule an appointment, please please please come see me! get there b/w noon and 2pm just in case i finish my appointment up early.

Rustoleum.

My sister, Jill, and her boyfriend, Rusty, came out to play today. In our adventures, we managed to get some work done on Rusty's sleeve. i know you're jealous.

My Camera Is Not Charged:

which is why i've been slacking on the updating; i apologize.

i have a pretty full schedule now through monday night. since i'm busting out some major tattoo work this weekend (or my weekend of sunday and monday) i'll probably be taking tuesday off to get errands done. if you need to be tattooed on tuesday, get in touch w/ me and i'll see what i can work out.

days next week that i'm free (as of now) include: thursday 9.20 and friday 9.21.
mark your calendars and give me a ring!

BACK TO SCHOOL!!!

here ya go... another good excuse to get tattooed.
i expect to see all of you in homeroom.

I am BACK!

i'm back from the wedding of the year. everything was beautiful! it was a really nice weekend. when i get some pictures, i'll be sure to share.

looks like i'll be having a lot of visitors over the next couple of weeks. seems like my out-of-town/out-of-country clients are all picking september to swing in for new tattoos! if you'd like an appointment of your own, get in touch w/ me asap!

i'll be announcing september specials very soon, as well, so be on the lookout.

Weekend Wedding:

i'll be away this weekend in New Jersey at my boyfriend's cousin's wedding. (follow that?) never fear - i'll be back monday. perhaps i'll even share some wedding photos of me all dolled up in a dress instead of jeans and a t-shirt.

i'll have my fancy blackberry w/ me, so you can send emails as usual... i just won't reply during the ceremony. have a good weekend!

UNEXPECTED DAY CLOSED!!

i'm sick. like big-ouchy-in-my-throat-&-exhausted-&-achy sick. i think its best for all parties involved if i sit today out as far as tattooing is concerned.

while i didn't have any solid appointments, i'm really sorry if this ruins anyone's plans as far as popping in or getting work done today, but i need to get this thing gone asap. i'm planning on being in tomorrow for the better part of the day. tomorrow night i leave for an out-of-town wedding, but will be back monday!

you can still email me about setting up appointments for next week today and this weekend while i'm away, but the phone talking thing isn't such a good idea.

again, i apologize.

B.F.F.

Well, we finally did it! Mary Ellen and i finally got our matching tattoos. She's been one of my closest friends since we were in the third grade. In case you'd like to know, that's about 21 years. (yikes!) The location of said tattoos is less important than what they actually are.

What are they?
Why, pickles wearing american cheese capes, of course. duh.

A Few New Ones:

Stacy came in w/ her sister, Kelly. This hourglass tattoo is based on the "Days Of Our Lives" hourglass and a memorial piece for her Grandmother who was a big fan of the soap opera.

Jesse came in for some text on his chest. Ask him about the quote... its great.

Sara came in to finish her matching camera ribs pieces. She sits like a dream and laughs a lot.
