Lots of Flowers:

today started w/ Avery coming in to get an old, blue rose covered up w/ a new, purple lotus.

then Ryan finally showed back up on the radar and got a couple more hours of work done on his sleeve. i am so excited with how much we got done tonight. one more session and the forearm will be done.

Future Interviews:

MSNBC is working on a series about body modification. It won't simply be about tattoos and piercings, but bodybuilding and cosmetic surgery, as well.

Maria Tash, Meg Barber (who works at Maria's Broadway, NYC location), myself, and a few others in the "community" will be sitting down for an interview to discuss tattooing, how tattooed people function in society, and the gross misconceptions the public has regarding those who choose to be tattooed.

I'll admit I'm a bit nervous, but I'll have my girls w/ me. Haha.

Updates about the airing, etc as they come!

A Knot and a Key:

Jessie came in looking for a Borromean Knot and that's just what she got. Look it up, educate yourself.

Shortly after Jessie's tattoo, Brian came in w/ his sister, Bridget. Brian got a key on his wrist. I have a thing for keys, ya know. His sister got her first tattoo on her ribs... but I don't have a picture. *sigh* sorry. She sat really well though, was adamant about watching Aladdin during the short procedure, and word on the street is she went directly to Papaya Dog after. Smart girl.

Orchid Rib Piece: Take One.

Jen and i have been working on a piece for her ribs for a couple months now. We finally got together and got the outline done last week. She sat like a rock while we watched movies. i cannot wait to get going on the shading!

Tattoos to Remind You of Your Roots:

Margaret came in recently with an idea drawn up for her ankle tattoo. i made a few changes to help it transfer better as a tattoo and shortened it up to fit the space we wanted to keep it in and ta-da!

The center portion of this pretty little dandelion's roots are in the shape of Margaret's home state: Minnesota.

Don't forget where you come from, kids.

Pumpkin Lattes and Healed Tattooed Scarification:

Thanks to Meg for driving from out-of-town and braving the ever-present BQE traffic to get her ditch tattooed w/ a pumpkin latte, complete w/ latte art heart center. if you don't understand what i mean by latte art, put it in google. i had to.

duh.

Twist on a Pin-Up:

Max came in not too long ago for a "pin-up". this pin-up was a little different than the normal hot chick we see etched into a tattooee. (i think that's a word?)

check it out! can you figure it out?

LOVE & LIES, video game style:

Niki came in last week to get a tribute to the game Portal. I loved doing this piece... its got me thinking about what video game piece i'd like on me!

enjoy!

RENOVATIONS!

the shop will be closed through monday-ish. i have to tile and grout and paint and schtuff. if you see the gate up and want to come in to talk about a piece you had in mind or just want to stop in and say "hi", please do!

i hope to be open as usual next week!

TATTOO TATTOO.

Matt came in today to get his first tattoo. he sat like a champ and listened to me blather about some of the more "interesting" clients i've had over the last few years.

don't you think his design choice was inspired?
