Surgery Update.

Hello Again!

I'd like to thank you all for the support and kind words I have received since announcing that I need to have surgery, HOWEVER, my insurance company has deemed my surgery a pre-existing condition. They will not cover anything to do w/ my c-spine until one year after the effective date of my coverage w/ them... that would be July 2009. I will, of course, be appealing this decision.

What does this mean for you and I in the meantime?
Let's start scheduling appointments for after October 7th!

I hope to see you all soon!!

Thanks,
Joy

I WILL NOT BE IN TOMORROW.

yeah, i won't be in.
i have supplies to buy so i can continue to do tattoos.

Hello again, Faithful Blog-Readers!

As some of you may know, I have been waiting to find out when/if I will be having surgery. Well, I DO have to have it. The surgery is due to a couple of herniated discs in my neck which need to be removed. After meeting w/ the neurosurgeon this week, I now have the surgery date and a projected recovery time.

The surgery will be October 7th. The recovery time is expected to be 6 weeks. During this time, I will not be able to tattoo since I will be in a neck brace and going to physical therapy. If this was foot surgery or something, I'm sure I'd break the rules a bit and come back to work sooner - however, my neck is a pretty vital piece of equipment for both life in general and (more importantly?) tattooing.

Of course, I doubt that I will be able to stay out of the actual tattoo shop for 6 weeks and plan to use this time to take custom work requests and get some drawing done so once I'm healed and ready to tattoo again we all have appointments waiting for us. When I begin going into the shop again, I will make a post and allow the flood gates on custom work open.

If you have an appointment scheduled in October or November we have a couple options: 1) move it to before the surgery or 2) wait until December. You'll be hearing from me directly if I have to reschedule your appointment.

Until then, feel free to email me w/ your ideas and desires about your upcoming tattoo projects. I am guessing - if all surgical business goes as planned - I will resume tattooing in December.

I'll keep you all updated, as always. Thanks for understanding!

Sometimes small is okay.

Directly below is the most recent tattoo i've done on my friend and client, Jesse. He sent me in this picture w/ a quarter for reference. Just to point out, if done properly and w/ the client's understanding about how tattoos change over one's lifetime, small tattoos can be done well... even small text tattoos. The following are all pieces Jesse has had done by me. Obviously, he enjoys challenging me everytime he walks through the shop's door!

Schedule Update.

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick update on how my schedule's looking....

Saturdays are booked through the month; the next available Saturday is October 4th. If you need a weekend earlier, I currently have Sunday, September 28th open.
If you are looking for weekday appointments, I am available after September 17th. As always, if you have to work a nine-to-fiver (or something similar) I can certainly try to stay late if you would like an appointment time around 7pm.

And as a reminder, I will be out-of-town the 8th & 9th and also the 19th. Other than that... FILL UP MY TIME!

Hope to see you soon.
