Dear Spring, GET HERE. Love, Joy

I cannot tell a lie: I'M FRICKIN' FREEZING.

I'm pretty sure my fingers are functioning, since I'm seeing the letters that I'm typing show up on the monitor...but I can't feel them. Nope, I can't feel them at all. Drawing should be fun.

Anyways...here's the top part of a sleeve that I've been working on for my buddy, Brody. The sweet switchblades and banner had to go. The first picture is BEFORE, obviously. It's got my sketched out marker design in brown over the original piece; ya know, in case you didn't know what was going on. The AFTER picture looks good, but since the original piece was raised (generally due to scarring) you'll always be able to see it at certain angles in certain light...for certain. Certainly.

The cold is clearly making me loopy. I'll go now, but before I do I will let you in on a secret: Twelve 28 will have GIFT CARDS soon. f'realz. I'm serious. Deets as I get them.

It's Saturday Again?

Tim came in for his first tattoo today. I can't recall doing a telephone pole before...but i know i haven't done one while giggling through SVU before!

George was in this evening for his second session on his Fu Dog Chestpiece. We worked another hour and a half today. Grand total tattoo time: 3 hours.

I'll be out Sunday and Monday. Yes, i have some pressing things other than tattooing to get done. Sorry - forgive me - see you next week!

QUESTION:

Would you guys like to see consistent "holiday" discounts or sales or something? I mean, I know The Economy Sucks Sale just ended, but it's not like the sucking of the economy has ended.

Maybe a VALENTINE'S DAY special?
or a February 28th special???...just for it being February 28th?
I don't know. I just like working and I want everyone to be able to get work done so...yeah, think of stuff!!

For now, I will say that I'll come up with some kind of special SOON. Maybe I'll find an obscure holiday or make one up!

Ideas can be posted below. THANKS!!!

One more session I think

A House, A Bug, & A Book:

Mike wanted his parent's house and his beloved VW Bug tattooed on his thigh in the style of John Muir. Today we worked on the outline for three hours. In a few weeks, we will start color. Here's what we got so far and an example of Muir's work.

All In A Day's Work:

At the stroke of Noon, we took care of Nadage's Eye of Horus. I love Egyptian work...I have a lot myself. Bring me more!!

Then around 2pm, we started Matt's half sleeve by tattooing him for three and a half hours. He's requested a realistic sugar skull sleeve. I dig it! I know a lot of artists start out by doing the entire outline first, but when I can, I prefer to go sections at a time. When you tattoo realistically like this, there isn't a traditional black outline to work with; so, going section by section, there is something completed for all to see. Otherwise, it would just be a tangle of mutli-colored lines that wouldn't do a thing for Matt or my title as "artist". Haha. Obviously, all artists work differently...this is just how I prefer to do things. It also cuts down on the time in between sessions. I won't tattoo the same area again until the piece is completely healed...usually 4 weeks. By tattooing in sections, Matt could come in tomorrow and work on a different area instead of waiting a whole month! Over the next few sessions, we'll throw in some more flowers, candles, and at least one more painted skull. So excited!

Brynn got her first tattoo in seven years this evening. She's planning on being back in here by the end of the month! I've always been fond of doing lettering tattoos....

Natalie came in (w/ Brynn) to get her very first tattoo. She did a great job. We did this adorable dandelion clock on her. I didn't even know what the term "dandelion clock" meant until yesterday. Hooray for Learning!!

Just another Saturday! And now I'm off to find some dinner...maybe a movie or more episodes of Law & Order (or Bones). Hope you all have a good night. I'll be back in here tomorrow afternoon for an appointment at 4pm if you would like to come in for a consultation.

Toodles!

All Hail The Mighty Kukulcan!!

Today, Renee and I finished up her backpiece of Kukulcan. If you don't know who that is, read this, at least. It took four sessions, none of which were over an hour and a half. I am so pleased with the outcome!!

I'm seriously in love with Mayan design, culture, history, artwork, etc. and this piece made me miss Mexico even more than I already do! I'm even going to include pictures of me in Mexico so you can all see how happy I was there! Haha...someone bring me a virgin pina colada, pronto!

Yours Truly & VIMBY:

I just finished tattooing the sweetest little heart lock on Jenny Truly. Not only was she a fabulous patient, but Jenny is the owner of the clothing company, Yours Truly...go check it out! Jenny brought Anne from VIMBY with her to document the momentous occasion of her first tattoo. You all should keep an eye out on VIMBY for the piece and let me know if you see it! Until then, here are a couple pictures of the finished product. It's so cute you'll be jealous!
